Thrive Foundation Featured in the Bournemouth Echo: Our Mission to Support Mental Health and Recovery

We're proud to share that Thrive Foundation has been featured in the Bournemouth Echo, shining a light on our founder Ed's story and the motivation behind launching a new organisation dedicated to mental health support, addiction recovery and helping people through difficult times.

As a new organisation based in Poole, this coverage is an important opportunity to introduce our work to more people across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch, and to raise awareness of the support and understanding that can make a difference when someone is struggling.

The Story Behind Thrive Foundation

Thrive Foundation was founded by Ed, whose own experiences with mental health challenges and addiction shaped his desire to help others facing similar difficulties.

Ed understands that life can become overwhelming and that asking for help is not always easy. When someone is struggling, they may feel isolated, misunderstood or unsure where to turn. Having experienced some of these challenges himself, Ed wanted to help create an organisation where people could feel heard, understood and supported.

His journey reinforced an important belief: recovery is not something people should have to navigate alone. Compassion, connection and access to appropriate support can all play an important role in helping someone move forward.

This belief sits at the heart of Thrive Foundation and its guiding message: From Surviving to Thriving.

Why Mental Health and Addiction Support Matter

Mental health challenges and addiction can affect people from all walks of life. They can impact relationships, employment, housing, confidence and everyday life. They can also affect families and the wider community.

Despite this, many people find it difficult to speak openly about what they are experiencing. Stigma, fear of judgement and uncertainty about where to find help can become additional barriers at a time when support is needed most.

At Thrive Foundation, we believe people deserve to be treated with dignity, compassion and understanding, regardless of their circumstances.

Our aim is to help people connect with appropriate support, access useful guidance and find a way forward that works for them. We also want to encourage greater understanding of mental health and addiction within our communities, helping people feel more comfortable reaching out when they need help.

Supporting the Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch Community

Thrive Foundation is based in Poole, and supporting the local community across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch is central to our mission.

As we begin this journey, we want to build meaningful relationships with local residents, community groups, businesses and other organisations working to improve people's lives.

We believe positive change happens when people come together. By raising awareness, building connections and helping people find appropriate support, we hope to contribute to a more understanding and supportive local community.

Being featured in the Bournemouth Echo gives us an opportunity to reach people who may not have heard of Thrive Foundation before. It also helps us begin conversations with individuals and organisations who share our commitment to mental health, recovery and community wellbeing.

From Surviving to Thriving

Our name reflects the future we want to help people work towards.

Thriving does not mean that life will always be easy or that recovery follows a straight line. It means having the opportunity to move beyond simply getting through each day, with the right support, greater confidence and hope for what comes next.

We know that everyone's circumstances are different, and there is no single path that works for everyone. Our approach is grounded in listening, understanding and helping people find appropriate support without judgement.

We are at the beginning of our journey, but our purpose is clear: to help people feel less alone and to make it easier for them to find the support they need.
